A limited edition archival print of Ina’s painting "St. Mark's Square":

The most popular and possibly most painted plaza in the world. I thought my chance of breathing new life into the subject lies in the composition. For this scene, I have chosen a uncommon angle, one that allows the Ducale building to be "chopped" in half by the pillar, and one that brings the Marciana building into view, so that together, they framed the St. Mark's Basilica in the background.

  • The print is part of the limited edition, and individually signed and indexed by Ina, the artist
  • Made with museum quality permanent ink on thick stock paper
  • For ease of sourcing picture frame and mat, this print is scaled to fit a mat with an opening of 10” x 7” and a picture frame of 16” x 12” (40.64cm x 30.48cm)

The past and the present

When painting a place as iconic as Venice’s Piazza San Marco, it’s easy to fall into the usual postcard views—the wide, formal shots of the grand basilica or the sweeping panorama of the square. But for this piece, Breakfast at San Marco, I wanted to find a perspective that felt more personal, something that captured not just the grandeur of the architecture, but the human experience that fills it with life.

I chose to position myself closer to the oceanfront, looking back toward the Basilica and the square from the bank. From this angle, the Doge’s Palace and the Biblioteca Marciana became even more magnificent. Their full scale and elegant repetition stretched across the composition, framing the main subject - St Mark's Basilica - in the distance.

Yet, in contrast to that weighty history, the foreground tells a different story — one of everyday joy. A scattering of tables, chairs, and relaxed figures at the waterfront cafés became the heartbeat of the scene. The vibrant red tablecloths and umbrellas serve as a compositional device, guiding the viewer’s eye into the painting, pulling them toward the Basilica.

Painting this piece was a reminder of what makes Venice so special: it’s not just a city of breathtaking monuments, but a place where memories are made and human bond is strengthened.

Art prints FAQs

Do the art prints come with a mat? How do you ship them?

Each print comes with a mat and a backing board and is ready to frame. For protection during transportation, the matted prints are wrapped in a clear plastic sleeve and then put into a rigid, protective envelope.

How do I find the proper frame and mat size for your prints?

Please refer to the “Overall dimension (including mat)” in the product description for the proper frame size. For example, if it says “Overall size (including mat) is 14” x 11” (35.56cm x 27.94cm)”, then the print will fit a 14”x11” picture frame perfectly.

If you would like to change the mat, you can easily do so by detaching the print from the mat (I used artist tape and it’s non-permanent). Please make sure the alternative mat you are using matches the dimension of the “Mat opening” specified in the product description. For example, if it says “Mat opening/Area of the artwork is 10” x 7” (25.4cm x 17.78cm)” then it will fit a mat with an opening of 10” x 7” perfectly.

Will the art print contain the trademark that says “Ina Xi all rights reserved”?

No. The trademark is for previewing the artwork through my Web store only.
