Course overview

Come learn the fundamentals of watercolor painting and walk out with a finished landscape piece and excitement to continue your practice!

In this workshop, we will open up with an introduction to the watercolor medium, followed by hands-on exercise of mixing color and basic washes so you know what kind of paint consistency you should look for when you paint different areas of the scene. 

After that, we will paint a simple but beautiful landscape together – a sunset scene over the marshland, with silhouetted trees, mountains and reflections. The painting process involves a loose pencil drawing and 3 different washes. For each wash, you will first see me do it with detailed explanation and then you will do it, with the option of practicing certain brushstrokes on a spare piece of paper before applying it to the final piece. As we go along, you will also learn tips and techniques of creating depth, atmosphere and intrigue, how to keep the painting look fresh vs. overworked. 

ATTN: Although this workshop doesn't require prior experience, it is however quite involved and thus not ideal for children aged 10 and under.
