Ina Xi Watercolors

Art for nature lovers and culture travelers.

Nice meeting you here!

Hi, I'm Ina Xi, an outdoor painter and watercolorist based in Port Orchard, a small town in the Pacific Northwest. With a multi-cultural background and an adventurous spirit, I search for harmony between nature, culture and human elements through my work, striving to capture the fleeting beauty of a cherished moment or place.

Besides traveling and painting, I enjoy teaching drawing and painting workshops that inspire students of all levels to expand their artistic horizon

You can learn more about me here.

"The next best thing to being at the seacoast is owning a watercolor painting by Ina Xi. Her works capture the essence of the salt seas and their bays, whether at Istanbul, Venice, or San Francisco. Her paintings are a vital part of our collection of local art."

- Alison S.L.

Titled “An Afternoon at the Hot Shop”, this watercolor painting is based on our own experience at @museumofglass in Tacoma.

It was truly a unique experience - watching glass blowers at work in the shaped metal building almost resembling a space ship.

I enjoyed depicting the action on stage and the surreal architecture!

This and other new original paintings from the Tacoma series are available for sale through my online store. Visit inaxiwatercolor.com for more details (link also in bio)

Painting Mt. Rainier is like looking at Mt. Rainier - it never gets old.

This watercolor piece captures the view of the Port of Tacoma from Browns Point. The juxtaposition of the port infrastructure and Mt Rainier made the mountain seem even more majestic.

This painting was sold at the @proctorartsfesttacoma There are a few paintings still available from my latest Tacoma series. Check them out by visiting inaxiwatercolor.com under the “Original Artwork” section. (Shop link also in bio).

Latest work from the Tacoma series - Tacoma Panorama. I will paraphrase what my student said about my artwork - “All seems complicated but none is spelled out”.

I thought that has captured my style of work really well. Yes I love painting suggestively, and abstraction is at the core of my work. Thank you for the compliment, Barbara.

This and other brand new paintings from the Tacoma series will be on show at the @proctorartsfesttacoma tomorrow. It’s my first time at this festival and I’m excited about it!

This painting is of a beautiful view from the hills of #tacoma looking over Ruston waterfront and the Commencement Bay in the distance. It was from this view that I fell in love with Tacoma as a painting destination.

Sometimes mundane objects like these electric poles and cars parked on the street can offer such beautiful forms to paint, and I love that their geometry carries the viewer’s attention forward to the main focal areas, which are the navy ships and the industrial structures of the port.

This and a few other original paintings from the Tacoma series will revealed for the first time and for sale at the @proctorartsfesttacoma this Saturday. I hope to meet many local folks there!

I have been exploring cinematic format lately and this is another Seattle scene that’s fitting for this wide format. This is the view from Kerry Park during sunset. In watercolor, transitioning from yellow to blue can always be tricky. But I’m quite happy with how clean the transition turned out for this piece.

What’s shown in the video is the painting before it was sealed and mounted to the 20x10 woodblock, ready to hang.

The finished piece is currently on show at @carriegollergallery There are 2 more Seattle paintings there that are still available.

A quick sketch of the Navy Museum Fountain Park next to the Bremerton Ferry Terminal. I love the design of this park but I never seemed to be able to capture the water explosion on camera 😅 It happens so quickly and I always forgot which direction it’s supposed to go!

Sorry for not posting for a while. Life has been very busy. It feels good to be able to check back in and catch up on things!

For this painting titled “Good night Seattle”, I wanna thank fellow artists @derekgundy for letting me use his video reference and for posting that in the first place. This is the view of Seattle skyline as the ferry pull away from the dock. I can totally resonate with this moment because it’s often filled with content and sense of comfort, after a busy day spent in the city and now home bound.

I will be exhibiting at this year’s Peninsula Art Festival in Gig Harbor this July 19-20.

Shown in the video is one of my favorite paintings of Gig Harbor - Summertime at Skansie Brothers Park. This place is the cultural hub of the town, hosts weekly farmer’s market and a favorite launching spot for paddlers and kayakers.

The festival will be held at a different park - Sehmel Homestead Park just west of downtown. It’s a much more spacious plot with new amenities.

I hope to meet you there!

A bonus video explaining my thought process when painting on the “Kayakers on the Olalla Bay”.

#inaxiwatercolor #olalla #pacificnorthwestartist
This is the new version of the Olalla Bay and Landing painting, after the first one was collected by the owners of @olallabaymarketandlanding

This hidden gem of a place is where local folks gather and enjoy the quintessential Pacific Northwest sunset. And a good splash on a hot summer day. I love this spot as much as you do!

This original painting is still available for purchase. DM me if you’re interested in learning more, and I’m always happy to find you a good deal. It’s not always about making the sales. I’d rather wait for the right person to own it, knowing that it will be respected and bring them joy.
