Ina Xi Watercolors

Art for nature lovers and culture travelers.

Nice meeting you here!

Hi, I'm Ina Xi, an outdoor painter and watercolorist based in Port Orchard, a small town in the Pacific Northwest. With a multi-cultural background and an adventurous spirit, I search for harmony between nature, culture and human elements through my work, striving to capture the fleeting beauty of a cherished moment or place.

Besides traveling and painting, I enjoy teaching drawing and painting workshops that inspire students of all levels to expand their artistic horizon

You can learn more about me here.

"The next best thing to being at the seacoast is owning a watercolor painting by Ina Xi. Her works capture the essence of the salt seas and their bays, whether at Istanbul, Venice, or San Francisco. Her paintings are a vital part of our collection of local art."

This is a half sheet size watercolor painting featuring a busy street corner. But not just any street corner.

Can you guess where this is?

I love painting scenes like this - strong shadows, colorful figures, architectural elements.

Last painting of the Poulsbo Alley miniature series. This one is my favorite because it feels both bold and warm. It’s in the winter after the rain. But the zigzag pattern of the string lights and the Norwegian flags look extra charming in the chilly weather.

This painting is sold. Browse other available pieces at carriegollergallery.com or visit the charming Poulsbo some day!

Poulsbo Alley No.5 from the painting series showcases the fall vibe of the alley. Changing colors, fresh air and bright sun.

The 4th painting of the Poulsbo Alley series is about those long summer sunsets and winding down after a full day of activities.

Visit @carriegollergallery in Poulsbo to collect one of these original miniature paintings each priced at $200 only. They are individually mounted on wood cradle board, sealed with cold wax and ready for hanging.

No.3 of the Poulsbo Alley miniature painting series. It’s that bright spring day vibe depicted in the scene - tender green foliage, clear sky, people out and about. That’s the season we are in. So bright and hopeful!

I believe this painting is already sold. But go visit @carriegollergallery or carriegollergallery.com to browse available pieces. In addition to original artworks, they offer prints and posters of different sizes at a more accessible price.

Second painting from the Poulsbo Alley miniature series. This was an early spring afternoon. The sun was really low and the trees hadn’t budded out yet. There is a bit of chill in the air. But the day was getting longer.

This and many other #poulsbo paintings are available at @carriegollergallery Hope you will pay them a visit and check out all of the amazing artists’ work.

Another miniature painting series I started sometime back, of the alleyway in downtown Poulsbo, Washington.

Despite it being a transient place that connects the waterfront park to the main road, the alley is rich with painting subjects, from architecture, foliage, people to cafes.

This series contains 6 paintings and are all consigned to @carriegollergallery in downtown Poulsbo. I believe 2 of them are already sold. Stop by Carrie’s amazing gallery whenever you are in town.

It was my first time attending the Gage Academy Gala event in Seattle last weekend, thanks to a fellow artist and mentor who put in a good word for me. There were so many amazing artworks at the auction. It was so humbling and stimulating at the same time!

About an hour into the silent auction while I was chatting with someone next to me, she noticed my painting was sold. I was like “no way, the auction is not yet done!” And she was like “Yeah because someone paid the highest price and the bidding is over!” Wow, I totally didn’t expect that. Just feels so unreal. I guess because deep down I still see myself as a total noobs to this and it’s probably true, coz I don’t even know how bidding works lol.

I also ran into @chrisholtstudio whose work I absolutely adore and the piece looked so nuanced and stunning in person.

Such an unforgettable night and great learning all around.

I was fortunate to be featured on King5’s New Day Northwest program two weeks ago. Art Zone producer Nancy Guppy (@azwithnancyg) described my work as “energetic” and the show creating “comfort” by depicting familiar places. Thank you for your praise Nancy. I feel so fortunate!

The show is open until end of the month. Some come check us out. Even if you’re not a watercolor enthusiast, the CVG Gallery @cvgbremerton boast a ton of artwork in a variety of medium and subject, done by a select group of regional artists. Gallery opens Wed through Sun, noon-5pm

Some time ago I delivered this piece to Gage Academy that I’m quite proud of. It’s the famous Piazza de Campo in Sienna, Tuscany, as seen from the Siena Cathedral. I tried to utilize a diverse range of brush strokes to depict different shapes and textures of the scene and really emphasize the bright sunlight on the brick colored buildings. By the way, Sienna really is the color of burnt Sienna!

This piece is now part of the silent auction at the Gage Academy Colleectors’ Gala. You can still get your tickets and participate in the auction by following the link on @gageacademy ‘s profile. I’m super grateful to be able to contribute to this cause and help keeping classical art education alive in our region.

This view of Gig Harbor never gets old. A spring morning, the air was cool and so were the shadows. Mt. Rainier peak is entirely covered in snow.

This miniature plein air painting was painted on watercolor paper and mounted onto a wood canvas permanently. It will be available for sale at the upcoming @localmakersgigharbor Spring Festival on May 10, at the Civic Center Greens in Gig Harbor, Washington.

Gig Harbor miniature painting No. 4. This is my personal favorite from the series. There's a street corner right before Harborview Dr turns and goes downhill and you are able to see (and paint!) the layers of the buildings as well as Rainier on a clear day. The historic Netshed stands out of all the buildings due to its red roof and teal walls, adding a pop of color to the otherwise blue/grey palette.

This and many other Gig Harbor artworks and prints will be for sale the day before Mother's Day, at @localmakersgigharbor Spring Festival. Come check us out if you're in the area!

Eddon Boat Building in Gig Harbor. A historic site and a classic subject for painting - bright white building, high contrast reflections, rippling forms in the water.

This 6x6 miniature work was painted on location just off Harborview Drive in Gig Harbor. And I mounted it to the wood block after it's dried.

This and other Gig Harbor plein Air watercolors will be available for sale at @localmakersgigharbor festival on May 10th. I look forward to meeting everyone there!

Gig Harbor has many nuggets of cute scenes including the Trolley Cafe near the boatyard. This painting depicts the charming picnic setting outside the cafe and people buying food at the takeout window. Very few of my paintings have bright red in them. This is one of them but it’s very fitting for the scene.

These small original paintings are budget friendly - $200 each only - and have gone through the same thorough process of sketching, painting and finishing. In addition to regular paintings that are sold by the sheet or with removable frames, these are hand mounted permanently onto birch cradle board. I have also applied waxed on the surface to prevent damage, installed the hanging hardware, and individually signed them with enamel paint. They will be available for sale at the Local Maker Spring Market in Gig Harbor, on May 10. I look forward to seeing you there!

Miniature paintings of Gig Harbor are finished and framed, ready for the Local Maker Spring Market. These 6x6 original paintings are mounted directly to birch cradle board, sealed with wax, and ready to hang or to be set into a canvas frame.

These rustic shacks can be found along the Harborview Drive near the West Shore Marina. I love how blue the water is and the interesting shadows casted by the pile-ons. This painting was done en plein air and on-site.

These original watercolor pieces are $200 each, priced for accessibility. But they have the same amount of thoughts and effort that go into a larger painting. And only the best of the bunches were selected for sale.

Which painting do you like better?

These are the two plein air paintings from our recent outing at Boedel Garden. I’m not particularly good with painting nature, especially trees and foliages that have more details and textures. I also think the colors can be pushed further for both paintings.

But I’m super grateful to be able to paint outside on a nice day and learning from fellow artist @brycebennettart at the same time!
