3/11 - "Lighthouse at the beach" watercolor workshop at Local Whimsy, Gig Harbor

Learn the fundamentals of seascape painting and create a beautiful beach scene with watercolor artist Ina Xi. 

In this workshop, we will open up with introduction to watercolor medium and impressionistic painting, followed by hands-on exercises to practice basic techniques, from color mixing, spot wetting, to controlling paint consistency. 

After that, we will attempt painting a beautiful scene together – a lighthouse at the beach. For each area we're going to paint, you will watch me demonstrating it and then you will do it, with hands-on coaching. As we go along, you will also learn tips and techniques of creating depth, atmosphere and intrigue, how to keep the painting look fresh and dynamic.

Cost includes all necessary supplies. Feel free to bring your favorite supplies if you already have a practice in watercolor.

Tracing paper available to help those who don't feel comfortable drawing the scene freehand.

ATTN: Although this workshop doesn't require prior experience, it is however quite involved and thus not ideal for young children. Please contact ina@inaxi.design prior to booking the workshop for your kids.
